However, having set off on his first mission he finds out that Camp Haven is a disguised alien base training humans to fight for their domination. There, he is given a new name and identity ‘ Zombie’. Meanwhile, Benjamin, Cassie’s old flame from high school, manages to survive the three waves and finds a shelter in Camp Haven, an institution where young survivors are taught how to fight against the others.
From now on, Cassie is on two different but relatable quests: finding Sam, her little brother, and learning how to trust Evan and others again. One of the assaulters, Evan, whose perspective is the most controversial, feels pity about Cassie and treats her gunshot wound which brings the two into an alliance.
The girl has to find a shelter in the wilderness where she gets attacked by a troop of alien soldiers. First of all, it’s a teenage girl from the state of Ohio, Cassie, who tries to survive by any means scavenging abandoned stores and gas stations in order to sustain herself in the attempt to find her younger brother. There are three main characters through whose narration a reader gets multiple perspectives on the same events. The first wave has shut off all the electricity in the world the second one has brought natural disasters like earthquakes, floods and climate change whereas the third one has caused a contagious disease blinding and exterminating humans. Mankind is about to face complete annihilation as a result of an alien invasion in the light of five phases of the extraterrestrial plan on the planet’s destruction, called ‘ waves’. Is there a life after an extraterrestrial apocalypse? Can you learn how to trust, compassionate and love when all that surrounds you is destruction? Cassie, Evan and Ben are in a search for an answer to these questions.
